Gnocchi
Last night I died and went to heaven. Well perhaps that is exaggerating it a little. I had real italian gnocchi with a gorgonzola cream sauce. Needless to say this is one of my favorite dishes.
I think I can stay in Seattle knowing that there is a ready supply of gnocchi for cooking at home, and a restaurant (Assiago’s) that can make it fresh.
Howdy Mate: So you think you tasted the best gnocchi? Well my Dad created gnocchi dishes fit for the gods. I was fortunate to be one of the mere mortals to eat his creations.
I will always remember him telling me, this is simple mountain food. His dad was very poor and grew up in Southern Italy. He mad homemade gnocchi because potatoes were about the only crop they could grow. How simple a food could be so delicious.
When I travel to Oz, I swear that the pototoes are the best I’ve ever eaten. Too bad I couldn’t get my Dad to travel there when he was alive. I have always dreamed of eating his homemade gnocchi made with Aussie potatoes. Someday when I go back, I will try to make them like he did.
Thanks for sharing.
I still feel the same more than a year posting this. It really brings back great memories.
