Today my project of the day was finishing off the door that hides the attic ladder. The ladder itself pops up in to a cavity, then a door swings up and hides it.
The hardest thing was making the latch work. Of course if someone (Brian) had not misplaced or hidden the templates for positioning I may have solved and finished the job a lot sooner.
Casey gave me a hand mounting and dismounting it. I had to take it down and trim it twice to allow for the wall and future trim around the shower door. It may even have to come down one more time for the same reason once we have the shower door up and trimmed.
The funniest thing was mounting the latch and closing it, only to realize it would not reopen. So the consequent times I went on the roof while Casey closed the hatch. The first time I realized i should have taken a stick to reach the latch, so I precariously balanced and got it open.
The next project is to finish off the second room and then attempt to finish the widows walk. That should create a new private space for Casey and I to star gaze!
