So here I am with another year almost over. Somewhat depressed. The depression, could be the weather, my extremely low B12 count (which I am taking direct injections for), or probably situational. You see we are six years in to the B&B and although for the most part we love it, it simply is not affording us the lifestyle we want. What do I mean by lifestyle? Well we would like to have  helper/housekeeper/manager, someone who can do everything we can, so we can then take a couple of days off every month. Then the only other thing is being able to get back to Australia yearly. That is not too much ask right?

So we have the grand plan for making this place make the income we need. The problem is the duplex we have been trying to sell for 3 years makes our cashflow look awful according to the bank. We were very close to getting the expansion done. That would add the function room and all important fifth unit, a two bedroom at that.

We look like getting a refinance on the Inn, that could help us with some energy efficiency upgrades and a minor kitchen remodel. At a stretch a new carport that smartly designed, will double as covered eating area during large weddings in the summer.

I am missing Australia terribly, miss family, friends, the geography, universal healthcare. I miss having a proper weekend every week. We have not had many of those in the past 6 years.

So as soon as my tenant is out of one side of the duplex (this week we hope),  we are going to fix it up, clean it up, stage it, sell it. Yes we have been trying but this time with staging and an active agent we will do it. That in turn will make us look financially healthier. It is still a possibility that we could do the expansion to the Inn a couple of years down the track.

Do we want to though? This is a hard slog of a lifestyle. It does not look like getting considerably better any time soon. I see opportunities galore in Australia. Maybe even a prolonged holiday for mental adjustment and wellbeing. We meet so many people that make a living out of the most interesting jobs, perhaps one of those would work better?

So now we are making the Inn look its best, perhaps we will sell it. If the right person comes along we certainly would not hesitate. It will be interesting to see where we are in 6 months, both mentally and physically!
